There are numerous gambling dens in the commonwealth, most on docked river boats. The largest of the Iowa gambling dens is the Meswaki Bingo Casino Hotel, an Indian gambling den in Tama, with 127,669 sq.ft. of gambling space, 1,500 one armed bandits, thirty table games, such as twenty-one, craps, roulette, and baccarat, and many types of poker; also three dining rooms, bimonthly entertainment, and gaming instructions. Another substantial Indian gambling hall is the Winna Vegas, with 45,000 sq.ft., 668 one armed bandits, and fourteen table games. Also, the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Council Bluffs is available 24 hours, with 38,500 square feet, 1,589 slots, 36 table games, and four restaurants. There are several other popular Iowa gambling dens, including Harrah's Council Bluffs, with 28,250 square feet, 1,212 one armed bandits, and 39 table games.

A tinier Iowa casino is the Diamond Jo, a river based casino in Dubuque, with 17,813 square feet, 776 slots, and 19 table games. The Catfish Bend river based, in Fort Madison, with 13,000 sq.ft., 535 one armed bandits, and 14 table games. An additional Iowa river based casino, The Isle of Capri, is available never closes, with 24,939 square feet, 1,100 one armed bandits, and 24 table games. The Mississippi Belle II, a 10,577 square foot river based gambling hall in Clinton, has 506 slot machines, 14 table games, live shows, and Thursday vingt-et-un tournaments.
